　　In the field of engineering machinery in China, the aerial work platform is a relatively new product. Due to the lack of experience, main of the products are designed according to the lifting machine or products abroad which are fully developed, resulting the lagging situation of domestic aerial platform in design and calculation for the difference among so many of the standards. The design of the aerial work platform is inevitable to combine with computer technology which is applied and developing in a steady way and of which all kinds of Information technology and CAD technology is approaching to the industry of engineering machinery. The designing efficiency will be improved largely when design, calculating and analysis to the whole machine will be done by software launched by the computer and various plans will be provided while evaluation and decision will be made by engineers.

　　The competition in scale and quality among the enterprises has turned into an overall competition from delivery, products, and cost to application such as environment protection.

　　The diversification of product requirements, the rapid pace of product design and the globalization of the market, it is urgent for manufacturing to provide the best products and service at the fastest speed with the lowest cost. For the entire product design cycle, the stage of project design is fundamental which decides whether the rest of the design period runs smooth. Therefore the top priority is to make the fittest plan in short time.

　　Entering China for a short period, aerial work platform is a new product for us with diversification structures and high standard of working condition. It takes quite a long time to be developed because it depends too much on the personal experience of the designer’s and it needs to start from scratch, and thus it also needs heavy workload.

　　At present, the design pattern we use is to do the design project with two-dimensional CAD system by a lot of auxiliary calculations to determine the general program, including the establishment of three-dimensional model for motion simulation and institutional interference check. If necessary the bearing condition should be analyzed through finite element modeling. Further detailed design won’t allowed to b e carried out unless all of the indicators meet requirements, otherwise, the project needs altering and the above process should be repeated.

　　According to the above, the designing of the project is a process of pursuing accuracy. It must be a waste of time and effort when applying to the traditional method to calculate because it involves many and complicated factors.
